Palm Springs car auction

tops $6 million in sales

Total sales at the Keith McCormick Palm Springs Collector Car auction topped the $6 million mark during the Nov. 18-20 three-day weekend event at the Palm Springs Convention Center.

Of the 507 vehicles crossing the auction block, a total of 305 were sold, some at lofty prices. Five cars brought in $390,750. They were a 1954 Buick Skylark convertible (Lot #465) for $152,500; a 1968 Shelby GT 500 KR (#283) for $152,500; a 1960 Mercedes 190sl roadster (#252) for $94,400; a 2003 Ferrari 456 GT (#456) for $73,500; and a 1961 Chevy Corvette roadster (#245) for $59,850.

While attendance was not counted, “It was through the roof,” said Jason McCormick, and spectators enjoyed the balmy sunshine in Palm Springs. Many people around the country watched and bought cars on line during the auction.

The next auction will be in February 2017, at the Convention Center in downtown Palm Springs.
