McCormick car auction tops $6 million mark.

With 346 vehicles sold at the Feb. 23-25 Collector Car Auction in Palm Springs, sales totaled $6.37 million, a gain of more than $200,000 from the auction last November. A total of 530 vehicles crossed the auction block.

Jason McCormick, manager, said “Sales have rebounded from a downtrend a few years ago,” with cars in the fifties and sixties still in high demand.

A 1957 Porsche 356A Cabriolet (lot # 479) produced the highest sale at $180,600. Other notable sales include two 1965 favorites, a Ford Mustang Fastback (#403) and a Chevy Corvette (#233), each selling for $78,750.

 A 1960 Chevy Impala convertible (#205) sold for $61,950 and a 1967 Porsche 912 (#71) went to a new owner for $45,675.

The next auction in the twice-a-year series is scheduled for November 2018.
