I bought this 1986 pick up truck around 1996 and started the conversion soon after and completed the project around 1998. This pick up has been in my possession for over 28 years and it has always been fully registered in Calif. ,with full insurance, but the end of this year it will be due for Ca. smog certificate and it will not pass as- is, therefore the reason for the sale also and of course , ( the sale is final and you bid for this truck AS -IS Condition!.) I bought a used good rear frame from the back of the cab and spliced it into the original frame to make this into a car hauler/ anything hauler , w/ tandem axels making ti a six wheeler truck , so I could cary heavier loads with no problem and legally. This truck is currently and has been registered and insured since I purchased it! I upgraded the braking system to six wheel brakes w/original booster and installed four air bags in the rear suspension to adjust for heavier loads and they all work. The original 305 Cu. In. motor finally died on me and at that point I purchased a 350 Cu. In. Remanufactured V8 long block from the NAPA store and installed it, it is a great improvement , but now it makes this motor not smog compliant in CA., so its time for me to let this workhorse go to a new owner and it has to be sold to a registered sales car dealer or to a person from out of state w/different smog laws ( I'm 81 years old and I don't need this vehicle any longer, so a new owner can enjoy this OLD BLUE. The Motor was upgraded with a new Edelbrock Manifold and new 650 CFM Carburetor and some other needed items to make Old Blue reliable. The air bag system has a little box panel that is about midway by the drivers inside of the ramp with capped schreider valves to add or release air to the bags. The truck is equipped with/ a 8000Lb. capacity 12 Volt electric winch and 2 group 34 car batteries that are charged by the engines alternator with plenty of pull power. The original saddle fuel tanks (2 EA,) are used w/a selector valve switch on the center of the dashboard and clearly marked. The original dash instruments have never worked since I purchased the truck w/ the exception of the original speedometer and odometer. There is a cassette tape player and radio and a bunch of old tapes go with the truck, I fabricated a simple auto gauge and speaker holder attached to the center of the transmission hump made out of aluminum to hold the water temp. gauge, volt meter, oil pressure gauges ( it was to be a test fabrication that never was upgraded!!). The flat part ( bed ) are made of heavy gauge steel to hold the cars or equipment and they were out of a dismantled center post hydraulic car lift and the ramps to load the cars are made of the strongest aluminum ramps that were salvaged from an obsolete Navy Landing Craft from WW 2. There is pair of smaller steel ramps that attach to the aluminum ramps when a Sports Car or low profile vehicle. can't make the hump without snagging the undercarriage. The enclosed sample photos depict some of the interesting loads I have hauled with OLD BLUE for my private use only.
