1998 Bentley Continental R Coupe, 385hp 6.75L Turbo V8, Special Edition #8 of 10. We are pleased to present this incredibly rare 1998 Bentley Continental R Special Edition. Marking #8 out of 10 examples produced in total, this Special Edition 1998 Continental R is said to have been purchased new at an original MSRP of over $338k from the authorized Bentley dealership EuroMotorcars of Bethesda, Maryland. Specific to this example is the “flying-B” grille ornament which is said to have been custom ordered from the factory as a personal wish from the original owner prior to delivery. Reported to have been under the care of only 2 private owners from new, this highly collectible Continental R is now being offered by Canyon State Classics in Arizona while showing approximately 60k miles, accompanied by original books and a clean title. Having recently undergone a professional full detail and paint correction, the Black finish on this Bentley is said to be in very nice overall condition except for a couple of minor touchups located on the passenger mirror cover (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery). The front bumper was recently refinished for cosmetic purposes and the seller notes that some other panels had been previously refinished including the driver’s side door. The original purchaser of the car is said to have contacted Bentley in England to commission the creation and installation of the raised “flying-B” grille ornament, a feature unseen on any other Special Edition Continental R. Characteristic details of this example include its stainless-steel oval tailpipes, body-colored headlight surrounds and bumpers, front wing vents, and 18” Continental T wheels. Inside, the cabin is appointed in fine Connolly leather, wool carpeting, and dark wood trim. The interior is described by the seller to be in immaculate condition while retaining full functionality of all gauges and accessories including the upgraded Kenwood audio system. The Continental R Special Edition is designated as such on the original window sticker by having the $19,556 Mulliner Park Ward option, which adds the following details: 6-Gauge Console Instruments w/ Turbo Boost Gauge Stainless Steel Gear Shift Lever Drilled Brake and Accelerator Pedal Red Starter Button Adjacent to Key Chrome Gauge Bezels Sport Mode Switch on Fascia Trim Panel Complete Steering Wheel Trimmed in Black This Continental R is equipped with a 6.75 L turbocharged V8 engine rated at 384 HP and 553 lb.-ft of torque. A 4-speed automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels providing for effortless cruising and a 0-60 time of approximately 6 seconds.
