In 1986 Sam Winston of the famous Winston Tire stores took delivery of the last run of the four passenger Ferrari 412's from the factory in Italy. Ferrari never produced a convertible of this model so Sam commissioned the Straman Coach building Company to do a "no expense too great" conversion on his new car. ( VIN# ZFFYD25B000061885 ). Only 220 manual transmissions of this model were produced by the factory. Only a few made their way into the USA. Unfortunately Sam Winston was killed in a roll over crash while being driven in a 1995 Jeep Wrangler in Utah September 1995. Sam was famous for his tire store TV commercials and at that time a household name. His wife Demetra Winston kept the car in storage for many years only bringing the vehicle out for routine services. In 2017 she decided to sell the vehicle that had recorded only 31470 actual miles. The car was purchased by a California car collector and sent into a Ferrari specialist for a comprehensive restoration to eradicate any storage problems (Includes receipt for over $40,000 in mechanical restoration). The 12cyl engine purrs as it did when it was new. Manual transmissions are the desired way to drive these timeless works of art .The angular Pininfarina styling and manual gearbox is very much in demand by collectors today. Ferrari's of this era are now in high demand due to very limited production numbers.
