    Owner Comments:
1957 Buick Riviera Caballero Estate Wagon You are looking at one of the most sought after wagons in the collector car world. This vehicle eclipses the common Chevrolet Nomad in nearly every way and makes a visual statement unrivaled by any other station wagon of that era. It has all of the most desirable traits for both collectors and for the driver who appreciates a fine vintage automobile. First, it is rare. Between the Special and Century lines, nearly 16,000 of these Caballero wagons were produced in 1957, but few survived. Today it is estimated that less than 10% of the original production run remain. Secondly, it is beautiful. This free flowing design that incorporates the four door pillarless hardtop styling in a practical family wagon was unique to the mid range GM cars in the mid 50s. Only the Buick and Oldsmobile offered this combination of an open air hardtop with a handy cargo compartment aft. A third great attribute of this wagon is its lasting collector value. The factory stock Caballero wagons have steadily risen in value for over a decade, and the updated, restomod versions continue to escalate in price each year. And that brings about the fourth very important aspect of this automobile it is a custom built modern day cruiser with all the performance and safety features of a contemporary car. This Caballero wagon is powered by a 345 horsepower Corvette LS1 engine backed by a 4L60E automatic overdrive transmission and a highly modified chassis with enhanced performance and handling characteristics. The grocery getter has a Monte Carlo front clip, an articulated 4 bar coilover rear suspension, power disk brakes at all corners with oversized Wilwood rotors and calipers, power steering, and custom 20 inch and 18 inch alloy rims with high speed radial tires. Without doubt, this Buick is one of the best of its kind to be found anywhere in the world. And, best of all, it has not been modified in outward appearance. The flawless body is painted in original colors of Arctic Blue and Dover White, and the matching interior is refinished in factory fabrics. The car has newly chrome plated bumpers and trim, excellent glass and rubber, factory knee-knocker air conditioning, and a top shelf AM/FM/CD changer. Under the hood, this vehicle is nicely finished with a beautiful Holden shroud that masks the injectors and ignition modules that sit atop the cylinders on the LS1 motor. It is an American icon in show condition. The cost to restore one of these wagons is enormous. Parts are not readily available as they would be with the mass produced Chevys, thus proper restoration of a car like this is a work of great perseverance and love. This Buick Caballero was built as a personal ride by a respected car builder, and it has been driven very few miles since completed in 2005. Qualified buyers are invited to make an appointment to see this superior automobile and wonder at its magnificent detail and quality.
