1967 Mercedes Benz 250 SE Cabriolet – Rare Euro Version & 2013 Award of Merit. Ironstone Foundation Concours d' Elegance This car was acquired by the current owner in 2005, and has undergone a carefully executed restoration that was consistent with the original vehicle data card. The restoration included the following points: • Rebuilt engine and new (currently under 10K miles) • New clutch and brakes • Rebuilt front and rear suspension • Full restoration of the body using OEM components • New paint to match original – Standox 717 Papyrus White • New carpet to match original • Restoration of original leather upholstery and color • Upgrade to OEM power steering • OEM AM/FM Stereo Shortwave enhanced with concealed amplifier and subwoofer. • Integrated Becker stereo cassette unit This beautiful vehicle was originally produced for export by Mercedes Benz for the French market. It was imported into the US in 1980, and subsequently acquired by and owner in Los Angeles. In 2002 it was sold to a private party in Salt Lake City, and the restoration was started with the rebuilt engine. Purchased by the current owner in 2005, the balance of the restoration was completed, 2005 – 2006. Only 954 production units of the 250SE from 1965 – 1967 – this even rarer euro version car has the more reliable and lively manual transmission. These cars were the choice of the wealthy elite and movie stars. When Janis Joplin sang her scratchy ballad, “Oh Lord won’t you Buy Me a Mercedes Benz,” this is the car she was extolling.
