    Owner Comments:
1968 Pontiac GTO coupe, genuine GTO with 242 in VIN, with Pontiac Historical Society papers and copy of window sticker. This car was delivered to John Hine Pontiac in San Diego CA and has stayed in San Diego. We have the original title, the so called “California Pink Slip” from the original owner, issued in 1967! Here is a list of options, a long one for a muscle car: Solar red paint Parchment pearl interior 400 V8 350 HP with 10.75:1 compression 4 speed manual transmission Saf-T-track rear axle w 3.23 gears Pushbutton radio Retractable headlamp covers Remote control outside mirror Rally gauge cluster Rally wheels Console Power steering Wonder Touch Power brakes Wonder Touch Soft ray tinted windows Head restraints Air condition A true barnfind, it has not been registered since -85. The previous owner rebuilt the engine and transmission but never started it. Our shop spent lots of time during 2014 carefully restoring this car while preserving the parts that were original and clean. It comes with a matching number 400 cu in 350 HP motor, stamped with the correct WT and has the VIN in the front, rebuilt with upgrades in camshaft and carburation. It now has an Edelbrock intake manifold and Holley carb and the original intake goes with the car. It has Hooker headers and the original exhaust manifolds go with the car. This engine always starts up right away, and runs perfect. No hesitation when cold, you can start it ice cold and it will idle and purr like a kitten. But when you step on it, both wheels let loose and you are smiling ear to ear! We have carefully detailed the engine bay with factory corret items and painted in correct semi-gloss black where it should be, and run new vacuum lines to the front light covers. The wiper motor and many other electrical items are new. Its matching four speed trans works great and the clutch is in good working order. The limited slip rear end with its 3.23 gears performs great for all around driving. The power steering and power brakes do their part for comfort, just like the AC that keeps you cool with new R134. The body is completely rust free, being a California car, and had a new paint job in the original Solar Red, with cut and polished clear coat on it. Every trim part was removed before paint and the original rear bumper has been rechromed. All the windows are original in good shape. The bright work has been either replaced, rechromed or polished original. The interior was carefully detailed and polished up. It seems to be the original and is in great survivor condition! The wood on the Rally Dash is in great shape and the steering wheel is still the original. The Rallye wheels were sand blasted and powder coated in their original dark grey color with silver paint. We mounted brand new Redline tires and kept the nice original lug nuts. The spare wheel is original and just detailed, never been on the ground! The GTO also has a restored trunk area and original detailed jack. The undercarriage has been carefully detailed and any worn suspension and brake parts have been replaced as necessary. This car runs and drives superbly! It is rare to find a 4 speed Detroit muscle car that still has matching numbers, and to have AC. Even rarer to find one with the original title. Even rarer to find one that has not been rusty and repaired. So all that in one California car, that now looks this great, is truly unique!
