    Owner Comments:
The 63 Lincoln Continental you are viewing today was manufactured in Wixom, Michigan on December 17th, 1962. It was delivered to Van Nuys Motors, in Van Nuys, California and subsequently sold to its first owner, Mr. D. R. Rhodes, of Woodland Hills, California, on March 12th, 1963. Mr. Rhodes kept the car until 1972, when it was purchased by its second owner, Mr. David Miller, of Orange, California. Mr. Miller had an extensive car collection, which included many pre and post-war classics. He also employed a full time mechanic to tend and look after his collection. He kept the 63 for 37 years. For several of those years, the car was not licensed and was essentially off the road. I purchased the car in 2009 from Mr. Miller, who was then in his 80’s. This Lincoln has lived its entire life in sunny Southern California. As you can see, the car is well optioned and in remarkably original and unmolested condition, with only 86,196 miles on the clock. I believe this is the true mileage, due to the car’s known history and lack of wear and tear. The triple black color scheme is consistent with the manufacturers data plate located on the driver’s door. The car has been repainted at least once and the top, although old, is in amazing unwrinkled condition. It is made of a bulletproof gauge vinyl that no longer exists. The vinyl seat upholstery was done by one of the previous owners. The carpet, dash, door panels, steering wheel and trunk lining are original. Additionally, the Lincoln retains its black and gold California license plates from 1963. There is one small spot of rust in the rear driver’s side door due to a failed drain plug. Otherwise, the body and undercarriage are consistent with what you’d expect from a low mileage Southern California car. In the five years I’ve owned the vehicle, I’ve maintained it and had the top and window systems completely rebuilt by John Cashman (National Lincoln Guru) in 2010. John claimed it was one of the nicest unmolested Lincoln convertibles he’d seen in a long time. If you’re looking an outstanding example of the early 60’s Lincoln convertibles, this is it. The new owner will receive a custom fitted car cover and all original documentation with purchase.
